A WEEKEND IN THREDBO

The drive from Sydney to Thredbo starts with the new ’24 Range Rover. As the urban landscape gives way to the rolling countryside, the Snowy Mountains begin to assert themselves on the horizon. This is Range Rover’s domain, adapting seamlessly to the increasingly rugged terrain.

A WEEKEND IN THREDBO

Day 1: Hit the Slopes

Thredbo might not have the fame of its European counterparts, but it doesn’t need it. This alpine village offers a distinctly Australian take on mountain culture, one that holds its own against the best in the world. Take for instance, the 3.7-kilometre Supertrail. Any preconceptions of laid-back Aussie slopes will be quickly dispelled—this Supertrail will test even the most seasoned skiers, standing tall against any other black diamond descent.

For those who prioritise après (and who would blame you?), Kareela Hutte offers the perfect midday-pause. Sitting 1810 meters above sea level, this on-piste restaurant has been a beloved fixture since the 1960s. The menu is built on Austrian flavours, with dishes that celebrate the local produce—the experience is a true reflection of the region’s charm.

Day 2: From the Slopes to the Trails

As the day progresses and the snow begins to soften, Thredbo reveals its versatility. Switch gears and explore Thredbo's diverse mountain bike trails, which reveal new perspectives of the surrounding landscape. The '24 Range Rover proves indispensable here, handling the varied terrain with ease and precision.

If golf is your shtick, cap off the day with a round at the Thredbo Golf Club. Perched at a remarkable altitude, the course presents its own unique set of challenges. The club has expansive views of Thredbo Valley & the Alpine Peaks, providing the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable game.

Day 3: End with a Coastal Retreat

To enhance your alpine experience, consider extending your journey with a drive through Merimbula. This coastal detour offers a striking contrast to the mountain terrain, showcasing the geographic diversity of Australia's southeast. The Range Rover effortlessly transitions from rugged mountain paths to smooth coastal roads, highlighting its adaptability.

Our favourite place to stay here in Merimbula, is the Hillcrest Hotel. The hotel boasts a terracotta tennis court and pool, while also offering unique Sapphire Coast experiences, like oyster shucking with the region's best farmers.

For those seeking an even deeper level of relaxation, Hillcrest's sister establishment, Safir House, offers a unique blend of luxury and cutting-edge wellness. Here, treatments are designed to help guests 'disconnect to reconnect,' complete with infrared saunas and ice baths—the ultimate Fire & Ice experience.

This journey, from alpine peaks to sapphire shores, underscores the diverse character of Australia’s southeast — a trek that defies easy categorisation, much like the country itself. With Range Rover, no adventure is too far-fetched.
